sellsofa.com is a marketplace for stories that happen to have sofas attached. We provide the stage: a listing page, a chat, and an audience. That is the entire product.
We are not a party to any sale. We never hold the item, never hold the money for a purchase, never deliver anything, and never guarantee anything about a sofa, a seller, a buyer, or a story. The price on a listing is between buyer and seller. Any money for the sofa itself changes hands between the two of you, somewhere that is not us. We have zero liability for how that goes.
Everything here is local pickup, arranged directly between buyer and seller through the on-site chat. Meeting strangers to move furniture carries obvious risks - personal safety, property damage, flaky humans. Those risks are yours, not ours. Meet in public, bring a friend, trust your instincts.
The story is mandatory and the story is the seller's. Sellers are responsible for the accuracy and legality of what they write and post - the words, the photos, the claims about the item. We don't fact-check the lore. If a story is defamatory, stolen, or illegal, that's on the person who posted it.
A human reviews every listing before it goes live. We can refuse, kill, or remove any listing at any time, for any reason, at our sole discretion. If we kill your listing, you get your money back - the listing fee and any unused featured time are refunded automatically.
Listings cost $5, one time. Featured placement (24 hours pinned to the top of the feed) costs $50, one time. Once a listing or featured run is live, fees are non-refundable - except when WE take it down, in which case we refund you. If you take your own listing down, that's your call and the fee stays with us. Featured bookings queue back-to-back: if the slot is taken, your 24 hours starts when the current run ends, and we tell you when that is before you pay.
The site is provided "as is" and "as available." No warranties of any kind, express or implied - not of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, uptime, or that the couch of your dreams exists. We may change, suspend, or kill the site at any time.
To the maximum extent the law allows, sellsofa.com and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from listings, stories, chats, meetups, purchases, or non-purchases. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the fees you personally paid us in the 90 days before the claim.
Don't post anything illegal, fraudulent, stolen, or abusive. Don't scrape the site, attack it, or use the chat to harass people. We can cut off access for any of that, with no refund in those cases.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in New Jersey.

One more thing, in the spirit of plain English: we count page views in aggregate (views per page, per day). No cookies, no fingerprinting, no third-party trackers, nothing that identifies you.
